Rudolf Koch

Rudolf Koch was a German calligrapher, typographic artist and teacher born in 1876. He's created many different typefaces, in both fraktur and roman styles. Probably his most famous typefaces created were Kabel and Neuland, Neuland of which he created by directly carving the type into metal, which meant there was a lot of variations in the typeface when it came to different sizes etc. Neuland was famously used as the typeface for the Jurassic Park films.

Kabel was heavily inspired not by German modernism but more German expressionism and bears influence to two earlier geometric sans-setif typefaces; the 1919 Feder Schrift, drawn by Jakob Ekbar and even more so his 1922 design, named Ekbar.
