TEXT SPACE SERIES 1 (1999),
7” X 10.5,” sumi ink on handmade paper (this is one of a number of similar small black and white pieces).

Thomas Ingmire is a calligrapher from Fort Wayne, Indiana in America. He has been practising calligraphy since the 1960's and has taught many workshops since the late 1970's. He's also one of the illuminators for the St John's Bible, led by Donald Jackson.

I really like Ingmire's work and how it comes across as very timeless. His use of colour is great and his work shows a mastery of balance in his pieces that I find very visually appealing. He's definitely a great inspiration for this part of the Art and Language project.
