2.
3. These are my final three designs for my postcard. As you can see, the American Psycho/Patrick Bateman theme is continued throughout.
1.
I like the balance in this postcard, I think the title heading along with the quotes making up the background of the image work well together and the continuation of colour works throughout the layout of the design. I like the fact the image is blurred, adding another element to the image, considering the word is illness, making him seem detached from reality. This works well with the quotes in the background, which are from the film, each indicating another part of his life that's spiraling towards insanity.
2. This postcard is definitely my favourite and the one I will be choosing as my final postcard. It's simplicity works for me and I really like the balance of the image centred by the strip of colour overlaying his eyes. I like the placement of the strip over his eyes since they say the eyes are the windows to the soul and I think, that along with the text, adequately symbolizes the soul behind this madman. I think it's stronger than the other two since the colour is clean and the title bar is sharp and symbolic over the blurriness of the image of Patrick Bateman, also another possible interpretation of insanity.
3. I wanted to experiment with another Patrick Bateman image, so decided to use the eye mask image along with another word - masculinity. I think this works quite well since it challenges the metrosexual nature of the yuppie culture that was such a big part of Patrick Bateman's life. However, visually it doesn't hold itself as well as the other two postcards. The image doesn't convey the word correctly in my opinion, although I do feel like the overall feel of the postcard does work with the referencing to 80's yuppie culture design.
